Rules of the Comm

The rules are pretty standard and straightforward, and basically boil down to "don't be an asshat".

1. If you don't have something constructive to say, then don't say anything. This isn't a flaming forum, it isn't fandom_wank, and it isn't a kindergarten classroom. You all know what constitutes acceptable behaviour; use it.

2. If you're going to post something that isn't yours, a) get permission or, if that's not applicable, b) give credit. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.

3. If your post is more than a few average paragraphs, please use a cut. Also, if posting an image, please post the full-sized image behind a cut. Thumbnail-sized previews are fine, but the large stuff should be cut for the sake of readers' reading pages.

4. If you're posting a link to something you've posted elsewhere, please make sure that the target is readable, i.e. is not friendslocked so that people in this community cannot necessarily read it.

5. Please try to keep fic postings manageable. We don't have an "only X posts per day" rule, but consider peoples' reading pages when you post more than a few posts a day. If you're posting a large, multi-part fic, consider posting a single post with links to all of the parts in your own journal, or on a fic posting site such as An Archive of Our Own.

6. All content with a rating greater than R should be behind a cut and should be clearly labeled as NSFW (Not Safe For Work). We really don't want our members getting in trouble for looking at that luscious drawing of Rodney on his knees for John, because they didn't know the content wasn't work-friendly.

7. Your posts should at least have /something/ to do with McShep and should contain McShep, pre-McShep, or McShep-plus-others. Other pairings are fine, of course, but this /is/ a McShep comm, and people who read it generally want to read about, well... McShep. =)

8. This is not a community for bashing other characters, other pairings or other fandoms. We don't want to read a bunch of Keller-bashing, or a treatise on why McDex is just so wrong, or a rant about the idiocy of people in "that other fandom". We're here for the John and Rodney love.

9. Use standard headers and titles when posting artistic content, please. The title of your post should denote that it's a Fic post, an Art post, or an Icon post, if applicable, as well as the rating of the content if it is R or higher. Headers should contain the fic's title, the author's (pen)name, the fic's rating (either a standard MPAA rating or the fan rating system), a disclaimer for the sake of legality, any applicable warnings, any author's notes you may have, and any other applicable information such as the name of your beta.

We're all here to join in the John and Rodney love. Use common sense - we do all have it - and be respectful of your fellow community members.

Now. *rubs hands together* Who's got the pr0n?

Got a quick question for you, hon. What about tagging; are you going to use any kind of author/genre/rating tagging like the LJ comm does?
